The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch that will take effect late Friday night and continue through Sunday morning, as forecasts call for increased snow totals through the weekend.
Justin Gibbs, a lead forecaster for the weather service, says the snow should begin Friday night, with the southern Pennyrile possibly to see some freezing rain as well.
Because of the increased snow totals, a Winter Storm Watch will take effect Friday night through Sunday.
Gibbs says the chance of 4 or more inches of snow in the area is now 80-90%, with some areas expected to see more.
The winter weather will obviously affect travel, so officials are encouraging you to plan ahead.
State and local road crews have been planning how to pre-treat the roads and will be out plowing the major routes throughout the weekend.
