NWS Says Snow is Coming But How Much?

Weather forecasters are saying western Kentucky will get some measurable snow this weekend but exactly how much remains up in the air as the models continue to disagree on where the incoming system will settle.

National Weather Service meteorologist Andy Lesage says there continues to be some uncertainty on where the system will land, which in turn, will determine how much snow is received.

Lesage does say there is a 50 to 60-percent chance the southern Pennyrile receives two inches of snow and a 30 to 50-percent chance of four or more inches of snowfall.

Lesage says the weather models have differed on snowfall amounts, which is common although they should align closer by Thursday.

Lesage says the snow should be a fluffy light snow with minimal chances of ice.

Regardless of snow amounts, the temperatures will remain in the mid-40s during the day on Wednesday and Thursday before dropping to 11 degrees overnight Friday into Saturday with the weekend highs in the 20s and the lows possibly in the single digits.

Wind chill readings overnight Friday and Saturday could approach zero.
