Two In Custody After Pursuit And Attempted Carjacking

A traffic stop on a stolen vehicle led to a pursuit, then an attempted carjacking on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville, Thursday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen, and the driver fled, almost colliding with other vehicles, before hitting a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Eagle Way.

The driver and passenger then reportedly fled on foot and tried to take a car from a woman and child in the parking lot of JennieCare Urgent Clinic before being tased and taken into custody.

Police say no one was injured in the pursuit and the suspects were armed with a gun.

The car was reported stolen in Nashville and Police say at this time the identity of the two individuals is unknown.

Law enforcement was notified of the stolen vehicle in the area by city cameras.
