A Hopkinsville Code Enforcement officer was injured, and the owner of the dog has been charged after an attack on Maplewood Street on January 8th.

Hopkinsville Police say the owner of the dog, 49-year-old Darrell Moore, was cited to court for having a dog at large and harboring a vicious animal after his dog attacked and seriously injured a Code Enforcement Officer.

Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says the Code Enforcement Officer suffered serious injuries and had to have surgery because of the incident.

Rogers says the officer was on public property at the time of the attack and, after surgery, has returned to work but is on modified duty due to the injuries.
