Jean Calhoun, 87, of Cadiz

Jean Burnam Calhoun, age 87, of Cadiz, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Christian Health Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

She was born on August 23, 1938, in Cadiz, to the late Sam Burnam and Eunice Mitchell Burnam.

A lifelong resident of Trigg County, Jean married Herbert Lloyd Calhoun, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years until his passing on October 30, 2011. She worked at both Flynn Enterprises and Elk Brand Manufacturing before dedicating many years to Trigg Knit Hosiery Mill. She was a longtime member of Liberty Point Baptist Church.

Jean was a wonderfully talented cook and found joy in preparing delicious meals for her family, often bringing everyone around the dinner table. She lovingly babysat for her large extended family throughout the years, creating a strong bond with her many nieces and nephews, who all adored their Aunt Jean.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lloyd Calhoun, her parents, Sam Burnam and Eunice Mitchell Burnam, and her siblings: sisters Shirley Cook, Phyllis Burnam, Eunice Burnam, and brothers Carl Burnam, Willis Burnam, and Sammie Lee Burnam. She is also predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Delores Burnam and Sarah McCullough, her brothers-in-law, Wallace Calhoun and John Calhoun, and her nephew, John Bill Calhoun.

Jean is survived by her brother, Leslie Ray Burnam, Sr., of Cadiz, and her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Burnam, of Hopkinsville, Ann Burnam, Linda Heath, and Wanda Calhoun, all of Cadiz; nieces and nephews: Debbie Cowherd, Kelly Mitchell, Kim Humphries (Stan), Kristen Roberts (Danny), Cheryl Henderson, Teresa Smith, Missy Calhoun, Ray Burnam, Jr., James Cook, Mark Burnam, Darian Burnam, Robert McCullough, Jr., Zebee Levet, Russell Calhoun, and Dwayne Calhoun; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2026, with Bro. Brad Chalfin and Bro. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Trigg Memory Acres. Visitation will precede the service from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM.
