
A man was taken into custody after a hit-and-run crash on East 7th Street in Hopkinsville on Wednesday night.
Hopkinsville Police say at 9:11 pm, an SUV driven by 23-year-old Jonathan Rivas-Cruz hit another SUV, then fled, hitting a utility pole, breaking the pole in half, before traveling a short distance down East 7th Street and parking in a yard.
Rivas-Cruz reportedly fled inside but was located by law enforcement and taken into custody.
Police say Rivas-Cruz was taken to the hospital to be checked out and was later charged with no operator’s license, no insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and DUI.
