Virginia Claudette Manns, 90, of Hopkinsville

Funeral services for 90-year-old Virginia Claudette Hooks Manns, of Hopkinsville, will be Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Virginia Street Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will begin Saturday morning at 11:00 at Adams and Sons Mortuary.

On October 24, 1935, Virginia Claudette Hooks Manns was born to the late Virginia and Sinks Hooks. She came into the world with a bang and went on to glory in the same manner. At a young age, she accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as the head of her life and became an integral part of the Virginia Street Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of Attucks High School and was a jack of all trades, having worked as a bartender, waitress, and insurance agent during her younger days. She found her claim to fame after graduating from beauty school to become a beautician. She worked for
over 10 years alongside Miss Pinky at Acree’s Beauty Salon. She could do a mean press and curl.

She was a member of the Lords and Ladies Club and the Bronze Twilighters Social Club.

In 1963, she married Sergeant Benjamin Manns. Claudette and Benjamin were married for over 50 years until his final breath on April 18, 2014.

Claudette was known to be a fashionista; she was always dressed to the nines.

Claudette passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, in Louisville, Ky., surrounded by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma J. Hooks.

She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Yvette (Marion) Chiles, Deborah Smith (Tommy)Woods, Siblings, Jesse Lynch, Roddy Lynch, Benita Lynch, Wendell (Bonnie) Lynch, Arnold (Ruth) Lynch, Larry (Donna) Lynch, Sandra (Arthur) Wilson, and Darryl (Tiffany) Lynch.

Grandchildren, Tiffany (Darrell) Peebles, Daniel Chiles, Summer Chiles, Dee Gibson, Joshua Chiles, Ian Chiles, Adam (Nikki) Chiles, and India Chiles.

16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, her beloved nephew, Quartez (Kewanda) Lynch, whom she and Manns helped raise, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored her.
