Man Charged With Assaulting His Girlfriend

A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting his girlfriend while she was holding a child on Glass Avenue in Hopkinsville Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 26-year-old Mikal Yandal hit his girlfriend in the face, choked her, held a knife to her throat, and hit her while she was holding a child, resulting in the child being hit, then he took her phone.

When he was located, he reportedly fled on foot and was found to have 19 grams of marijuana. Police say he had also damaged a window and a door frame.

Yandal is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, alcohol intoxication in a public place, first-degree strangulation, possession of marijuana, and intimidating a participant in a legal process. He also had warrants for probation violation and non-payment of court costs.
