The Hopkinsville Community College Foundation, Inc. has received a $4,300 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger.

The “Nourishing Our Neighbors” grant supports community feeding partners by expanding access to nutritious food and providing nutrition education to reduce health risks associated with food insecurity.

Rena Young, executive director of the Hopkinsville Community College Foundation, said they have seen a “significant increase” in pantry visits over the last few months, often stretching food supplies very thin. This grant, she said, arrived at the perfect time.

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation remains committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support to programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors.

Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $25 million in grants to help nourish communities with fresh food.
