Governor Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state office buildings to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, December 7, in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honors the more than 2,400 Americans who lost their lives during the surprise attack on the U.S. Naval fleet at Pearl Harbor in the early morning hours of December 7, 1941. President Franklin D. Roosevelt called it “a day which will live in infamy” and signed the Declaration of War against Japan the next day.
The governor encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
