Excellent Quality And High Prices Reported From West Kentucky Bred Heifer Sale

High average prices were reported from the recent Western Kentucky Select Bred Heifer Sale that was held Saturday, November 22, at the Kentucky-Tennessee Livestock Market in Guthrie.

According to the report from University of Kentucky Beef Cattle Specialist Kevin Larent 210 heifers were sold for an average price of $4,602. The highest selling heifers in the sale was a group of 18 black Simmental and Gelbvieh sired heifers from Circle F Farms in Trigg County that brought $4,789 per head. Second highest were 39 black-white face heifers that brought $4,733 per head. Larent said there were 27 buyers with prices ranging from $3,900 to $5,100 per head. Breeds represented in the sale included Red Angus, Angus, Ultrablacks which are a Brangus-Angus cross, Hereford, and Balancer.

Trigg County Agriculture Extension David Fourquruean and other fellow agriculture extension agents assisted Larent and the KY-TN Livestock Market staff with the sale. Fourqurean says they were pleased with the prices and quality of the cattle that were sold.
