A Hopkinsville man was charged with fleeing from law enforcement on North Drive at West 7th Street on Monday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop a vehicle driven by William Webster due to him having active warrants.

However, before they could get behind his vehicle, he reportedly almost hit another vehicle near West 7th Street, then traveled down two city streets before turning into McDonald’s.

The pursuit reportedly came to an end when an officer hit his vehicle to stop him from hitting people in the parking lot, then he collided with a parked vehicle, pushing it into a second parked vehicle.

Webster reportedly resisted arrest and would not listen to commands, but was taken into custody.

Police say an officer was treated for minor injuries after the arrest.

Webster was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, third-degree assault of a police officer, and first-degree wanton endangerment.
