Benny Hunter, 73, of Hopkinsville

Benny “Butch” Hunter, age 73, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, of natural causes. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Home at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in New Ebenezer Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Hayes officiating. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Butch was born in Cadiz, Kentucky on October 13, 1952, to the late Roy Hunter and Pauline McBride Hunter. He worked at Westate Construction Company and was also a self-employed painter. He was a member of New Barren Springs Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Wilford Hunter, Charles Hunter, Tony Hunter and Larry Hunter along with his sisters, Winnie Skinner, Dot Bagby, Nell Ortt, Jeannie Leneave, and Nancy Dunn.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Karen Hunter of Hopkinsville, KY; his son, Jeremy (Candy) Hayes of Christian County, KY; his daughter, Christy (Tim) Fields of Hopkinsville, KY; grandchildren, Ryan Fields, Sarah Crow, Kaitlyn Hayes Gresham, Trenton Hayes, Drew Fields, and Hadlee Hayes; great grandchildren, Presley Crow, Maddux Crow, and Beau Gresham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the caregivers and staff of Senior Helpers for the care provided to Butch over the last 15 ½ years.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the giver’s choice.
