John “J.E.” Edwards, Jr., 85, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Bradford Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2025 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. David Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Christian County, KY he was born December 24, 1939 the son of the late John Edwin Edwards, Sr. and Ruth Bryant Edwards. J.E. was retired from Thomas Industries and then went on to retire from American General Life Insurance Company as an insurance agent. He was a lifetime member of Second Baptist Church and the NRA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Walter E. Edwards.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years: Linda Long Edwards; his children: Robin Edwards (Danny) Charles of Hopkinsville, KY, Twyla Edwards (Paul) Gabbard of Greenville, KY, and John E. (Tana) Edwards III of Hopkinsville, KY; his grandchildren: Bryn (Amber) Hightower, Dawn Charles (Terry) Pearl, Joseph (Chloe) Gabbard, Sara Gabbard, Ethan Tate Edwards, Zoe Layne Edwards, and Sadie Lynn Edwards; and nine great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
