A traffic stop for a traffic violation led to drug charges and a stolen gun being recovered on East 7th Street in Hopkinsville on Wednesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Chad Willis of Elkton due to a traffic violation, and during the stop, the odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, and a gun could be seen in the floorboard.
Willis and his passenger, 41-year-old Kyle Tanner of Sharon Grove, were reportedly asked to step out of the vehicle. Police say after a search of the vehicle, marijuana, along with two firearms, were found, and one of the guns had been reported stolen.
Tanner was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. Willis was arrested and charged with failure to or improper signal, disregard or failure to yield the right-of-way, and possession of marijuana.
