Christian County Fiscal Court and Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam has scheduled a special-called meeting set for 10:30 AM Thursday at the Christian County Clerk’s Office, located at 511 South Main Street.
The only agenda item listed is the approval of a new Christian County Justice Center boiler.
Tuesday morning, Gilliam signed an emergency declaration — following the recent failure of four boilers, leading to considerable heating concerns as cooler fall and winter temperatures arrive.
In the written statement, Gilliam said the lack of functioning heating systems in the Justice Center creates “immediate dangers to the health and safety of county employees, court personnel, judges, attorney, and members of the public who must access essential government services in increasingly cold weather conditions.”
As this process continues, the Justice Center will remain open with unchanged hours and services.
Meanwhile, Fiscal Court is also scheduled to return in special session next Wednesday, November 12, seeing as Tuesday is Veterans Day.
