A lane shift is planned for westbound traffic on Interstate 24 at the West Fork Red River Bridge in Christian County beginning Thursday.
Repairs at the bridge near mile marker 91.4 will move from the right lane to the left lane, shifting traffic to the outside lane. A 16-foot width limit will be in place between mile points 91.2 and 92.6 during the project.
Work is expected to continue through late November, weather permitting.
Drivers should be prepared for lane closures, reduced speed limits, and crews in the area. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet urges motorists to slow down and use caution in work zones. A 55 mph speed limit will be enforced where work is underway.
Vehicles needing to avoid the work zone can detour using I-65 north to I-165, then follow I-165 to the Western Kentucky Parkway and continue to I-69, which reconnects with I-24 west of Princeton in Lyon County.
