A Hopkinsville woman was charged with assaulting a police officer during a traffic stop on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville Saturday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Jazmine Franklin for a seat belt violation, and during the stop, she drove off.
The officer reportedly followed her vehicle into a parking lot, then asked her to get out of the vehicle, and she resisted by pushing her legs into the floorboard and grabbing the steering wheel.
Police say she pulled away after getting out of the vehicle and was taken to the ground, then started kicking the officer, she then claimed she was pregnant and was taken to the hospital after being arrested, but refused to be seen by a doctor.
Franklin is charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and failure to wear a seat belt.
