Beloved UHA Educator Nancy McGuire Passes Away

Nancy Mason McGuire, a longtime educator and founding member of University Heights Academy, passed away on Thursday at her home. She was 86.

McGuire, a Hopkinsville native, graduated from Hopkinsville High School and Georgetown College. She began her career teaching science at several schools, including Christian County High School, before becoming a founding member at University Heights Academy. At UHA, she served in many roles, including Chairwoman of the Science Department, Assistant Headmaster, and established the science curriculum for grades 7-12. She taught all science courses to the students at UHA and was honored with several awards, including the Norman J. Wiedmer Outstanding Teacher Award. In recognition of her dedication, the Board of Trustees established an annual award in her name, given to an outstanding senior science student. She retired from UHA after three decades of service.
