The Christian County Middle School Beta Club is kicking off a shoe drive fundraiser to support its students while also helping families around the world. The collection runs from October 1 through December 12.
The club will earn funds based on the total weight of gently worn, used, and new shoes collected. Shoes can be donated at CCMS, and Funds2Orgs will provide a check for the collection. Proceeds will directly benefit Beta Club students.
Once collected, the shoes will be redistributed through the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise partners in developing countries. The program helps micro-entrepreneurs create and grow small businesses in areas where jobs and opportunities are limited. Families use earnings from shoe sales to provide food, clothing, housing, and education. One Haitian entrepreneur even funded her son’s law school education through the effort.
Beta Club sponsor Christa Williams said the shoe drive offers a “win-win” opportunity, raising money locally while creating opportunities abroad. She also noted that closet cleanouts before Christmas make donating even easier.
By giving gently worn, used, or new shoes a second chance, donors can support CCMS students and make a lasting difference for families worldwide.
The CCMS Beta Club includes students from all three grades who are dedicated to serving their community and school.
