Former Kentucky basketball guard and beloved Wildcat, Kyle Macy, is bringing a piece of UK history to local fans as he wraps up his statewide book tour.
Macy will be signing copies of his book, “From the Rafters of Rupp,” this Friday at 1:00 PM at the Book and Bottle Shop in downtown Hopkinsville. Copies will be available for purchase at the event.
His book, co-authored with Dr. John Huang, was released in November 2021.
The book is a deep dive into the stories of 19 UK basketball players who have their jerseys retired in Rupp Arena. Macy, a key player on the 1978 national championship team, personally interviewed legends ranging from Cliff Hagan and Dan Issel to his own teammates Jack Givens and Rick Robey. The book also includes a special interview with coach Joe Hall.
Macy’s three-year career at UK was nothing short of brilliant. After transferring from Purdue, the Indiana Mr. Basketball became a three-time All-American and a fan favorite. Known for his incredible efficiency and a nearly 89% career free-throw average, Macy was a first-round NBA draft pick and went on to a successful professional career.
