Pennyrile Electric Increasing Monthly Customer Charge

In order to offset rising costs faced by electrical distribution cooperatives, Pennyrile Electric has announced an adjustment to its monthly customer charge.

Beginning October 1, members will see a $2 increase on their monthly bill.

The customer charge is a fixed portion of each bill, and it will help cover the basic costs of maintaining and operating the electric system—such as poles, wires, meters, and equipment—ensuring reliable service to all members regardless of energy usage.

Like many cooperatives across the nation, Pennyrile Electric is facing increased costs to deliver safe and reliable power.

Officials said this modest adjustment does not affect energy usage rates, and will aid Pennyrile Electric in the necessary investments in their system to meet the needs of the members.
