Over 2,000 people are part of the over 50 clubs in Kentucky Rotary District 6710, according to District Governor and former State Senator Dorsey Ridley.
Ridley spoke at Tuesday’s Cadiz Rotary Club meeting about the goals of Rotary International. He said over $360,000 was pledged, received, or funded to various causes throughout the district, while $2.025 billion was the achievement of the International club.
Rotary International is a global network with over 1.2 million members and 130 countries. The organization fights for many different causes, such as fighting diseases like polio, supporting education, and providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to those without.
In addition, Ridley discussed the upcoming Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, or RYLA. This is a youth camp which promotes leadership, communication, Rotary’s purpose, and community service.
Every District 6710 club is allowed to sponsor a student, or students, to attend the three-day event.
The Cadiz Rotary Club was also presented with a District Star Club award, which shows their dedication to service in the community.
