Hopkinsville Streets Flooded By Heavy Rain Saturday

More than four inches of rain Saturday afternoon from a thunderstorm left water standing in many places in Hopkinsville.

Hopkinsville Mayor J. R. Knight told Your News Edge the city recorded just over four inches of rainfall at the city public works headquarters on North Main Street. The rain fell within about an hour and left several streets flooded. Mayor Knight says public works officials were called in to close some streets that were impacted by the flooding.

Knight told Your News Edge Saturday night that all the flood waters had gone down and all streets had been reopened.

Saturday was the third time this year that Hopkinsville has experienced heavy rainfall that led to flooding throughout parts of the city.
