Mark Mitchuson of Saint John, IN, a huge Star Trek fan, was “beamed up” on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in the company of those who loved him. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lawrence Cemetery in Trigg County. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home was entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mark spent his life in Lake County, IN, residing mostly in St. John. Graduating from Griffith High School, he had a natural ability with computers. He continued his education in Computer Sciences, starting a career in Chicago, IL, with Jenner and Block as Systems Administrator for over 26 years. He had many interests in life and marched to his own beat. He would come across something that caught his attention and would research, plan, contemplate and then do it…. line dancing, painting, blowing glass, computerizing Christmas decorations and lights, being a clown (Yes, a real clown named Marco), listening to music, or working on any puzzle or gadget that might catch his eye. We were never sure what “project” he was working on or what would be next. He found humor in life, always with a quick wit and a ready comeback. He kept everyone around him laughing. When he adopted an animal, it (usually they) became a part of his life 100%. His many interests and knowledge amazed us all. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Mitchuson, and many loving family members and friends who are waiting to see him again.
His two sisters survive Mark: Virginia Mitchuson and Cathy (Vernon) Groeber; two brothers: Herman (Sonny & Anne) Mitchuson and John (Jane) Mitchuson; close nephews: Steven Mitchuson, Robert (Nikki) Rutherford, Christopher (Theofano) Rutherford, Scott (fiance, Lindsay Schild) Rutherford; niece, Jessica (Daryl) Allen; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Instead of flowers, donations may be given in Mark’s name to the ASPCA or the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Northwest Indiana.
