A Hopkinsville man was charged with torture of a dog and cruelty to animals on Hayes Street Wednesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say a dog was found in a vehicle Tuesday, unresponsive, and later died due to overheating.
Video footage in the area reportedly showed 38-year-old Antonio Attaway putting the dog in the vehicle just before 6 am, and the dog was found just before noon.
Police say Attaway claimed the dog was dropped off at his house, and he put the dog in the car so his friend could pick it up due to him not wanting to take care of it.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and torture of a dog or cat.
