Museums Of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County Summer Programs

A busy couple of weeks are ahead for the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County — with events designed to entertain, educate, and connect the community to its past.

click to download audioThat tour rolls out Saturday, May 24th at 10 a.m., covering all 23 Kentucky Historical Markers across Christian County. Tickets are $20, and a few seats are still available.

The following week, the museum gets hands-on with history.

click to download audioVolunteers will meet at Union Benevolent Society Cemetery on Vaughan Street on May 27th at 6 p.m. The museum provides all supplies to clean and preserve local gravestones.

Later that week, history meets hops.

click to download audioThe next edition of “History on Tap” takes place at Hopkinsville Brewing Company, exploring the progressive side of the Shakers — including their unexpected ties to bourbon.

And for the kids — or kids at heart — the Saturday Sleuths program returns May 31st with a Derby-themed mystery.

click to download audioThat same weekend, the rescheduled Tipsy Tour — a downtown walking tour with stories of scandal and intrigue — now takes place June 6th.

And beginning June 6th, the museum will expand its hours — opening Mondays through Saturdays all summer long.

With history on wheels, on gravestones, in a pint glass, and on a plate — there’s something for everyone this summer in Hopkinsville.
