Hopkinsville Approves Zoning, Bonding

The City of Hopkinsville is issuing new zoning designations and helping an industry by bonding nearly a quarter of a billion dollars. Monday night, City Council approved the second reading of the Toyota Boshoku Bond Ordinance. The City is bonding up to $230 million for the plant going in in South Park.

City Council also approved the first reading of two zoning ordinances, following their presentation at last week's special called meeting, where Community Development Service Director, Tom Britton said both were favorably recommended by the Zoning Board. The first ordinance zones 3125 Cadiz Road as an Agriculture Transitional District and 3165 Cadiz Road as Single-Family Residential. The second ordinance zones 4526 Lafayette Road, the new development The Flats, as Multi-Family Residential.

In other business, Chief Financial Officer, Melissa Clayton says tax collection continues to mostly trend upwards.
