A Hopkinsville woman was charged with criminal abuse after hitting her child at Jennie Stuart Health Urgent Care on Eagle Way Friday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they were called after witnesses watched 23-year-old Mara Cardwell strike the 6-year-old child in the rib area with a closed fist.
Police say Cardwell denies hitting the child but says she pulled the child towards her to pop her behind.
Cardwell is charged with first-degree criminal abuse.
