A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting a police officer at Abundant Grace Ministries on South Main Street Tuesday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say at 10:38 am they were called for 39-year-old Joseph King, who was on the floor rolling around and vomiting and may have been overdosing on drugs. He refused to go with EMS during the incident and fought with officers, leading to one of their hands being injured, before King was tased and taken into custody.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment and then transported to the Christian County Jail.
King is charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, and third-degree assault of a police officer.
