Born March 12, 1935, in Trigg County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Edward Street Litchfield, Sr. and Hazel Ray Litchfield, née Joyce. She was a longtime member of Hurricane Baptist Church and had worked as a patient aide and housekeeper at Shady Lawn, but her primary role was at home as a devoted mother and homemaker. An exceptional cook, Betty was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting in her spare time. She especially loved being “Mimi” to her grandchildren.
