Another week of moderate temperatures and dry weather could give way to our coldest weather since spring this weekend.
Weather Edge forecaster David Powell says daytime temperatures will stay in the 70s and could hit 80 later in the week.
Powell says temperatures this weekend could dip into the 30s overnight and could bring the first hard frost of the year.
He went on to say a hard frost will affect outdoor plants, flowers and vegetation.
There has only been one day of measurable rain since September 11 and Powell says not to expect that to change in the coming week.
We added this has been a year of weather extremes in western Kentucky.
The earliest date in the fall for a temperature in the 30s in Hopkinsville was a low of 37 degrees on September 14, 1964. The earliest sub-32 degree temperature day in the fall was 31 degrees on September 28, 1942.
