GOOD NEWS: Maddux, Harper Awarded Hopkinsville Art Guild Scholarships

The Hopkinsville Art Guild has announced two local recipients for this year’s scholarships.

Anna Maddux was awarded assistance for her planned studies at the University of Cincinnati—College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. She will take part in a five-year program that includes two semesters and one summer of paid co-op in the field of art.

She’s a graduate of Christian County High School, and believes art “adds much to the culture, and character, of our world.”

Riley Harper was awarded assistance for her planned courses in post-secondary studies at Transylvania University. She has goals of becoming a clinical psychologist, specializing in art therapy. She focused on art-related courses during her high school years at University Heights Academy, which she says helped provide an escape from “the sometimes overwhelming reality of preparing for the future.”

Valued at $500 each this year, the Hopkinsville Art Guild is able to award these scholarships because of generous donations from community art supporters.
