A Hopkinsville man was charged with burglary and public intoxication after an altercation with his ex-girlfriend on Bryan Street in Hopkinsville Saturday night.
Hopkinsville Police say 39-year-old Nathaniel Nelson showed up at her house under the influence of alcohol and forced his way through a storm door to get into the home smashing her hand in the door in the process.
She reportedly hit him in the head with a Christmas decoration during the altercation. Police say Nelson had been trying to contact the woman all-day on the phone.
