Marion Man Killed In Caldwell Wreck

A Marion man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck on Highway 70 Wednesday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police Detective Hunter Carroll with Post 2 says they were called to the scene by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office shortly before 1:00 to investigate the wreck that occurred three miles east of Fredonia.

According to a preliminary investigation, 51-year old Timothy Crider was driving a dump truck westbound on KY 70 when for an unknown reason, the passenger side of the vehicle dropped off the shoulder of the roadway. Detective Carroll says the dump truck traveled back onto the roadway, crossed the center-line, and then ran off the opposing shoulder of the roadway where it overturned, ejecting Crider.

Crider was reportedly flown to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville where he later died from his injuries.

Kentucky State Police is continuing to investigate the crash. The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Caldwell County EMS, Fredonia Fire Department, and Princeton Fire Department assisted on the scene.
