A Trigg County woman was indicted by the December session of the Trigg County grand jury on a charge of abuse of a corpse.
28-year-old Shaylynn Curtis was officially charged with the Class D felony following a state police investigation from October.
Police said Curtis took the body of her deceased 5-month-old, wrapped the child in a blanket, and placed him in the attic of her home. The child had been dead for nearly 24 hours.
The police report said Curtis made no attempts to call 911 or seek any medical assistance for the infant. Law enforcement was only called by Curtis’s friends asking for the child to be checked on.
Her bond is $5,000 cash.
