Christian County COVID Cases Ticking Downward

After a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases at the beginning of the month, Christian County’s cases dropped for a third straight week Wednesday.

According to the Christian County Health Department, the county added 114 new COVID cases in the past week. That’s down nine from last week and down 67 from two weeks ago.

Health department communications director Cloie Rager said there have been no confirmed cases of the Omicron variant in Christian County.

While the number of active cases among people 21 and under is virtually unchanged, active cases in people 60 and older have dropped from 78 to 17 in the past week.

The health department has given nearly 35,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine ranging from first shots to boosters with Rager encouraging people to get their booster shots.
