Christian County Public Schools announced that Pembroke Elementary School and South Christian Elementary School will be closed for several days due to the aftermath of the weekend storms.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel said Pembroke Elementary will remain closed for the next five days for repairs to the building. South Christian Elementary will be closed until Wednesday. Bentzel said there was no damage to the school itself but the area is without power and they’ve been assured power should be restored by midweek.
The City of Pembroke received substantial damage from severe storms that moved through southern Christian County Friday night and early Saturday morning.
Christian County Public Schools will provide food, sundry, and service support to the Pembroke community beginning Monday.
There is no Non-Traditional Instruction for Pembroke and South Christian Elementary students. Next week’s missed school days will not be added to the school calendar.
