The Pennyrile District Health Department is reporting 102 new cases of COVID-19 in the five-county area for October 1-4, including 25 for Trigg County, 37 for Caldwell County, 10 for Crittenden County, 19 for Livingston County and 11 for Lyon County.
Among those cases include 10 males and 15 females, and range from 6-to-75 years old. The median age of these new cases: 30.04 years old. All 25 cases are currently quarantined in homes.
The news comes soon after Governor Andy Beshear reported a second-straight week of declining cases across the Commonwealth, with positivity rate falling to 9.31%. On Saturday, Kentucky’s health departments collectively reported 2,511 new cases and 54 deaths (including a 46-year-old man from Christian County), 1,201 new cases and 22 deaths on Sunday, and 1,239 new cases and 26 deaths on Monday.
The US death toll attributed to COVID-19 did surpass 700,000 this past weekend — something Beshear noted was difficult to fathom.
Beshear also reported hospitalizations for COVID-19 have dropped 15% in the last week, but 62 of 96 hospitals are still noting critical staffing shortages.
More than 17,000 Kentuckians received their first or second vaccination this past weekend, pushing the state’s vaccinated north of 2.7 million.
