Iowa Woman Charged After Making Bomb Threat Targeting State Police

An Iowa woman was arrested for allegedly making a bomb threat targeting Kentucky State Police Post 1 in Hickory over the weekend.

Post 1 spokesman Trooper Adam Jones says 21-year old Keely Bennett of Cherokee was charged with one count of first-degree terroristic threatening.

According to Trooper Jones, the charges stem from an investigation after a threatening message was received on the Kentucky State Police mobile application Sunday. He says an anonymous bomb threat was received and stated the target was the KSP post in Hickory. He says troopers and detectives responded to the post and conducted a thorough search of the property and no threats were found.

Trooper Jones says Bennett was identified after detectives utilized IP records and cellular service provider data to obtain phone records from the perpetrator.

Bennett was reportedly located by the Cherokee Police Department Monday evening and taken into custody without incident.  Trooper Jones says she is awaiting extradition to Kentucky.
