Kentucky Positivity Rate Continues Decline With 2,600 New Cases

Kentucky’s COVID-19 positivity rate continued to decline Friday with the state reporting 2,608 new COVID-19 cases.

Governor Andy Beshear announced Friday afternoon the positivity rate dropped to 8.75 percent and the state recorded 57 new COVID-19 related deaths. Friday 1,505 people remained hospitalized, with 355 in intensive care, and 199 on a ventilator.

Four of the deaths reported Friday were from Christian County, with one each from Caldwell, Logan, and Marshall Counties.

The counties with the most positive cases include Jefferson, Fayette, Kenton, Daviess, and Boone Counties. Each of the counties reported more than 95 cases, with 360 reported in Jefferson County alone.

Governor Beshear said Friday “our declining positivity rate shows that Kentuckians are continuing to make those small sacrifices we’ve been talking about to protect each other until we get enough vaccines for everyone who wants one”. He adds “wearing masks around other people from different households, social distancing, washing hands, staying when they can and getting tested regularly. It’s the simple things people are probably sick of hearing about that can make the biggest difference as we near the finish line.
