The Christian County Health Department reported an increase of 26 novel coronavirus cases Saturday afternoon.
Since Friday, the health department’s report shows the 60 to 84 age group increased twelve cases to 45. The 85 and older group increased by seven to 16 total cases, and the 22 to 59 age group also increased by seven, raising the total to 131.
Health department officials do not say if Saturday’s increase in the older adult and elderly age groups is attributed to the outbreak reported earlier in the day by the Christian Health Center on Sterling Drive in Hopkinsville. The nursing home confirmed seventeen residents and six staff members have tested positive for the virus with nearly all of those cases asymptomatic at this time.
Of the 945 total COVID cases in Christian County, 679 have recovered and there have been fourteen deaths.
