Governor Andy Beshear reported 790 new COVID-19 cases and six new deaths related to the virus Saturday afternoon.
Of the newly reported cases, the governor said 98 were children 18-years old and younger, including a three-month old.
Governor Beshear said the weekend is here and it’s critical that Kentuckians take the steps necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19. He added, while the state’s positive rate is lower at 4.22%, there were nearly 800 new cases. He encouraged everyone to keep gatherings to less than ten people, wash your hands frequently, social distance, and wear a mask.
The six deaths the governor reported included a 59-year old Todd County man. His death was the eighth in the county, which was previously reported Friday evening by the Todd County Health Department.
As of Saturday afternoon, Kentucky’s total number of COVID cases climbed to 52,464 with at least 10,613 of those recovered from the virus.
