Some Trigg County Hospital Services Resuming Monday

A few services at Trigg County Hospital will start up again Monday after Governor Andy Beshear implements phase one of reopening hospitals across the state.

Hospital CEO John Sumner tells the News Edge this is part of the governor’s plan to slowly return to normal operation.

Sumner adds the hospital has been hit hard through the pandemic.

Trigg County Hospital has received $421,000 from the Health and Human Services through the CARES Act that was passed to help the nation’s economy because of COVID-19. Sumner says the funding will be used for payroll, some bills, and other things to keep the doors of the hospital open.

He adds the hospital also received $1.5-million from the paycheck protection program and they are hoping a portion of it will be forgivable.

In addition, Sumner thanks his nursing staff and providers who have stepped up to conduct COVID-19 testing.

Through the pandemic, five Trigg County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, while every adjacent county, except for Stewart County, Tennesse, reporting 11 or more positive cases.
