Traffic Stop For Careless Driving Led To Several Arrest In Hopkinsville

A vehicle stopped for careless driving was found to have a 14-year-old driver and several people inside the vehicle Thursday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped the vehicle at the intersection of South Campbell Street and East 4th Street and found that the driver was only 14-years-old.

Eight people were inside the vehicle including four adults 18-year-old Walter Mumford, 18-year-old Fredrick Reeves, 28-year-old Brittany Drounett all of Hopkinsville along with 21-year-old Savannah Acker of Lafayette.

The vehicle only had seating for five people and police could reportedly smell marijuana during the traffic stop.

Mumford reportedly tried to hide a stolen firearm under his seat during the stop.

All four adults in the vehicle were charged with third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor. Mumford was also charged with receiving stolen property and tampering with physical evidence.
