A Hopkinsville man was arrested after he reportedly fled from police during a traffic stop on Stanley Street Tuesday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop a car in the area of Stanley Street and Walnut Street for not using a turn signal and the driver 30-year-old Damien Davis fled at a high rate of speed.

The pursuing officer was reportedly able to get the license plate on the rented vehicle and it led him to an address on Florence Street that was connected to Davis.

When officers arrived at the home on Florence Street Davis who allegedly fit the description of the driver ran out of the home with a large bag and was arrested on Canton Street.

Several plastic baggies containing marijuana were reportedly found in the area that Davis ran and he no longer had the large bag.

Davis is charged with DUI, tampering with physical evidence, first and second-degree fleeing or evading police, and possession of marijuana. He also had warrants for four counts of contempt of court.
