A man has died after crashing into a church Friday night in Clarksville.
Jim Knoll, Public Information Officer for the Clarksville Police Department reports the 36-year old man, whose name has not been released, was driving east on Madison Street in a 2001 Toyota Camary around 10:30. Police investigation indicates the driver, for an unknown reason, veered off to the left near the intersection of Greenwood Avenue, crossed the westbound lanes of Madison Street, left the roadway, and crashed into First United Methodist Church.
Knoll adds the man was pronounced deceased at the scene and did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt. He was the only person in the vehicle and there was no indication of alcohol usage.
