Rep. Booker Considering Run For U.S. Senate Seat

43rd District State Representative Charles Booker made a stop in Hopkinsville Tuesday afternoon as a part of a listening tour across the state.

The tour comes on the possibility of Representative Booker, who is a Democrat, running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Booker, who is from the west end of Louisville and currently lives in the poorest zip code in the state, says he wants a Commonwealth that is ready for the future. He adds it’s time for a change in the U.S. Senate.

Booker notes he launched an exploratory to let Kentuckians know they will not be an afterthought if he decides to pursue the Senate campaign.

Booker says he wants to improve the quality of life and health insurance and create more jobs for Kentuckians.

The listening tour will continue through the end of the year with a focus on asking residents their concerns.

The filing deadline for the intent to run for the 2020 U.S. Senate Race is January 10.

Booker’s 43rd district includes a portion of northern Jefferson County, which has many poverty-stricken neighborhoods.
