Police: Man Found With Drugs Threatens Law Enforcement

A Hopkinsville man was charged with possession of meth after being arrested on a warrant on West 7th Street Wednesday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 44-year-old Scotty Highsmith was arrested on a warrant and during the arrest, a police K9 alerted on his vehicle.

Meth, two syringes along with medication were reportedly found in a bag inside the vehicle.

After being put in the back of the officer’s car Highsmith allegedly hit his head on the partition in the car.

He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center were he reportedly threatened to murder police and resisted arrest as they took him inside.

He is charged with possession of meth, retaliating against a participant in a legal process and resisting arrest.

Highsmith’s warrant was for fraudulent use of a credit card after he allegedly used a credit card to withdraw $180 from a bank.
