Hopkinsville Native Promoted To Colonel In U.S. Army At Ft. Knox

A Hopkinsville native is moving up the ranks of the U.S. Army.

Colonel Edwin Chilton, II was recently promoted to Colonel at Fort Knox. He was commissioned in 1997 as a 2nd Lieutenant at Western Kentucky University and has served at the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. In addition, Chilton has served with the United States Army Pacific in Fort Shafter, Hawaii, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York, and the Human Resources Command and U.S. Army Cadet Command at Fort Knox. He has served in many roles, including Platoon Leader, Deputy Adjutant General, Battalion Commander and currently the Cadet Command G1 and will attend Senior Service College next summer. Chilton has been deployed multiple times in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Chilton is the son of the late Edwin Chilton and Nancy Hutchinson. He is married to the former Charlene Graham and has two children, Edwin and Isabella.
